Halloween 2009

I am finally getting around to posting our Halloween pictures. Better late than never I guess. I have a hard time figuring out when to post thing this time of year since Hudson's birthday, Halloween and Logan's birthday all fall within 5 days of each other. I figured the birthdays should come first.

Every year since Logan's first Halloween I have gotten a picture of Butch and the boys from behind trick-or-treating to see how much they have grown. Last year Hudson was snuggled up tightly in blankets sleeping in his stroller since he was only 2 days old. Logan the pirate on the hunt.

Braeden The Transformer Bumble Bee getting some goodies.
A sure sign of where we are this year.
Hudson was getting cranky and tired by this point.
I took Hudson out and was carrying him, when Braeden decided he had had enough and hopped in!

We, like everyone else I'm sure, have way more candy then we know what to do with! Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!!

Hudson's 1st Birthday Party

Hudson's 1st Birthday party was last weekend. We did a monkey theme for him, because he originally was our "chunky monkey" however he is now dubbed the "skinny-mini monkey"! These our the cupcakes we made for him. The hardest part in making them were when we cut the vanilla wafers for the ears, not having the other half of the cookie crumble. The cheapest store brand ended up working much better than the name brand ones. I didn't get a picture of his centerpiece, but we had 3 balloons tied to a monkey piggy bank with all the stuffed animal monkeys we have surrounding it.

Happy birthday to you sweet baby!

He finally got the hang of it and had a huge fistful!

Onto some of the many many gifts he had. LOVE these monkey pj's his Grandma got him!

Notice Hudson's monkey birthday shirt? Clearance at Target for $4.97!
More Ohio State stuff...like the look of pure excitement on my face...HA!

After it was all said and done, like most kids the boxes were is favorite part of the day!

Thanks to everyone who made his day so special and a big thanks to Aunt Kristy for taking all the pictures!

Fall Festival

Yesterday evening was our church's Annual Fall Festival. The boys got all dressed up in their costumes and we headed off for an evening of fun. After the boys enjoyed some hot dogs, chips and apple cider they loaded up and took a tractor ride.

After a ride around the pumpkin patch, they went bobbing for doughnuts. Logan clearly won, poor Braeden was getting so angry because he string kept moving.
Making pumpkin bookmarks was next on the list.
followed by making a frames,
and then making harvest bracelets.

We headed to the pumpkin patch next to take pictures. I took about 10 and this is the best one we could get.
There were pie eating contests for different age brackets. The guy in the short sleeve shirt is our neighbor. He, his wife, and their son all participated. Aaron, their son, won his bracket.

As the sun started to set we had a devotion around the bonfire. After it was completely dark all the kids got to take part in Trick-or-Trunk. The church members pull their cars together in the parking lot and you then walk from trunk to trunk trick-or-treating. Braeden had his school party today and Logan's is tomorrow, such a busy busy week for us as well as everyone else I'm sure. HAPPY THURSDAY!!

spiders

Logan and Braeden both have Halloween parties at school this week. I have been trying to find something very simple and cute to make for them to take. Then I came across the cutest cookies ever, Spidey Cookies, at Our Best Bites. They recommended the Twizzler pull-aparts and they worked perfectly! After attaching the "legs" I smeared leftover icing I had on the empty end of the cookie to help hold it all together. They used red hots for the eyes, but I knew my kiddos wouldn't eat them so I piped red icing onto them instead. It took The Hubby and I less than an hour to make all 40 of them.

I love how they turned out, and hope the kids love them too!

Our 2009 Family Pictures

Yesterday was a bright and cheerful 62 degrees around here. On the way home from church I thought it would be the perfect day to get our family pictures done so I called my sister and had her meet us at Miami University. The scenery was breathtaking. I know I have said it before, but truly Autumn is my favorite time of the year. There is just something magical about the smell in the air, the sound of leaves crunching, and the sight of the vibrant colors.

On this tree only the tips were dead brown leaves, the rest was still bright yellow.
All these trees lined up in different shades reminded me of Neapolitan ice cream!
My sister took our family picture and then I took all of the ones of the boys. I'm beyond thrilled with how they turned out. Thanks Kristy for the help!
